DIY Affordable & Printable Wall Decor
So recently I wanted to update the framed wall decor that sat on my shelves in my bathroom. I started searching etsy for a handmade sign like my cute “Get Naked… Just kidding” sign below.
While these funny signs are super cute, most are handmade and therefore they can not only get a little pricey- but shipping can also get up there as well. And in all honesty, I just couldn’t commit to a purchase of something that pricey if I wasn’t sure I was going to want to change it out next year as well. That’s when I came across some etsy signs that were downloadable.
At around $5, you can order downloadable super cute sayings. Print it on your own at home or your local stationary store (or pharmacy) in most cases for under $1, pick up a cheap frame, and you’ve got yourself some pretty wall decor.
The best part? When you get sick of it, you can change it out without breaking the bank, but keep the same frame.
It’s pretty simple and can be done by following these steps:
Step 1: Find a downloadable file to purchase.
Here are some of my favorites (you will be brought directly to them by clicking on the pictures below):
Step 2: After purchase, find the downloadable file under “You—> Purchases & Reviews”
Step 3: Click “Download Files.”
Once you will be prompted to another page where you can choose where to download it to. Usually each seller gives instructions as to which ratio would work best for frame sizes such as 8x10, 16x20… etc
Step 4: Print it out
You can do this at home, Staples (You can send it to the copy machine by emailing it to: staples@printme.com. They’ll send you a barcode to your email to scan at the copy machine in the print center, which is usable for 24 hours. If it’s poster size you can pre-order online for pickup), or your local Walgreens (which I found to be the cheapest for larger prints)
Step 5: Purchase a frame.
I found the most reasonably priced frames which are pictured in my bathroom shelf picture above at Michaels (Sold in a set of 2 on sale for $14.99, if you’re a teacher you can also use your Teacher ID to get an additional 15% off). Homegoods often has great frames as well for around $12.99- $14.99. Be sure to get your frame first before ordering your prints, just so you know what size to order/print. Here are some of the cheapest frames I’ve found at Michaels:
PS: Alot of times these frames are in stock in the store and if you order online for “in-store pickup” they’ll give you an additional 20-25% off.
